The twenty-eight types of materiality may be classified into two: the four great essentials(cattāri mahā·bhūtāni) and then the twenty-four types of materiality derived from the four great essentials(catunna mahā·bhūtāna upādāya·rūpa). But those twenty-eight types of materiality may also be classified as eighteen types of concrete materiality(nipphanna·rūpa) and ten types of unconcrete materiality(anipphanna·rūpa).
